WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

At SOAR, we take pride in the success of our former interns and employees. Below are updates on their current roles, achievements, and how their time with us has shaped their careers. Discover their continued impact as we introduce each one.

  • Andrea Medina, B.S., worked at SOAR from January 2020 until March 2024, starting as an intern with Dr. Martinez and later continuing as her administrative assistant.

    Andrea is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Child Development.

    During her time at SOAR, Andrea was integral in communicating with and scheduling new patients, administering and scoring regular assessments of patient progress, writing content for the SOAR website, and managing various other administrative tasks.

    Andrea transitioned from psychology to business, leveraging her expertise in organization and communication to enhance operations and foster a positive workplace culture. In the future, she hopes to expand her impact through community outreach, creating spaces where individuals feel empowered and equipped to succeed.

Office Manager

  • Carolina Barrett, B.S., worked at SOAR from January 2023 until July 2024, beginning as an intern and later transitioning to the role of office manager.

    Carolina is a dedicated advocate for mental health and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Health with a focus on Social and Behavioral Sciences at Temple University in Philadelphia.

    During her time at SOAR, she honed her skills in patient care, advocated for insurance benefits, and presented at the International OCD Foundation online conference alongside three SOAR colleagues. Her experiences at SOAR deeply inspired her commitment to addressing health disparities.

    With a passion for improving mental health equity, Carolina's future goal is to increase access to mental health resources in underserved communities, reduce disparities, and ensure equitable care for those who need it most.

Office Manager

  • Malika Kumar, B.S., worked at SOAR as a Digital Marketing Intern from March 2024 to January 2025.

    She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience. During her time at SOAR, Malika contributed to redesigning the company website and created engaging social media posts to promote mental health awareness.

    Malika’s future goals include integrating her interests in psychology and mental health into the field of User Experience Design and Research. In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts and spending time with friends and family.
